Laboratory Technical Support

• Distributes tools and equipment to students for classroom and laboratory use, documents disbursements and collects and stores tools following use.

• Cleans tools, equipment and floor.

• Cleans and maintains lab area.

• Opens and closes Lab at shift end and ensures equipment is stored in proper location to secure Aviation Lab.

• Ensures tools, equipment and training aids are functional, operational and performs needed diagnostic service and minor repairs.

• Replace tools and equipment when necessary.

• Prepares new training aids and donated vehicles for laboratory use.

• Performs vehicle preventive maintenance.

• Charges batteries, maintains fuel levels, monitors tire pressure and performs other maintenance of a routine nature.

• Schedules aircraft work for laboratory projects.

• Orders aircraft service and repair, labor time and estimation manuals, and updates automotive computer programs.

Inventory & Clerical Support

• Maintains and updates inventory of tools, special service kits, equipment, stock items and vehicles.

• Monitors disbursements, orders needed items and obtains bid offers on new equipment.

• Utilizes College approved contractors to ensure proper handling and disposal of waste oil and other hazardous materials.

• Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation including inventory reports, work orders and requisitions.

Program Support

• Assists instructors.

• Obtains and returns training materials, sets up vehicles and other training aids and arranges chairs, tables and equipment.

• Answers routine questions, gives aviation lab tours, provides general information and performs other duties to maintain good public and student relations.

• Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend all required meetings and trainings.

• Hours will include working outside of the normal work week, including evenings and weekends as needed to meet workload demands and college extended scheduling.

• May require travel to other locations.

About Columbus State Community College

Columbus State Community College has been meeting the diverse educational needs of the Central Ohio community for more than 50 years. The college is proud to be an important contributor to the growth and progress of the region and to serve as the front door to higher education in Central Ohio. From the first graduating class in 1965 through this year, 50,000 students have earned associate degrees in 50-plus technical fields and academic transfer programs. Columbus State also offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree programs whose coursework fulfills the freshman and sophomore year requirements for bachelor’s degree programs offered by four-year colleges and universities throughout the state. Specific transfer agreements with more than 40 colleges and universities are in place at Columbus State, and new direct-to degree partnership programs are being developed all the time. Columbus State now has two campuses serving Central Ohio educational needs. The Columbus Campus is located on 85 acres in downtown Columbus. The 108-acre, full-service Delaware Campus welcomed its first students in 2010. Additionally, Columbus State offers classes at nine convenient regional learning centers throughout Central Ohio.
